Old Chinese White Porcelain Figure Statue Happy Boy & Dog Stand

The charming little boy is sitting next to the dog with his arms holding the dog close to him. The dog’s front feet rest snugly across the boy’s legs. The boy and dog figures are sitting on a thin black porcelain base. The detail on the statue is very nice and the “almost chine de blanc color” is very appealing. The boy’s mouth is slightly open and you can see his little teeth and tongue. His cheeks are rosy and his hair is worn in a traditional style. The dog’s ears are up and there are faint black spots on the dog’s body. The statue is simple but very beautiful and whimsical. The statue is unmarked but I would date it to late Qing or early Republic period. I have never seen a similar statue in many years of collecting Chinese antiques. I bought the statue many years ago in San Francisco. The statue fits nicely on the stand. The stand is in excellent condition with expected wear. The are some surface scratches and variations in the stain. There are no chips, cracks, missing pieces, repairs or damage that I can find. The statue is in excellent antique condition with expected wear. Some of the black paint on the dog’s spots appears to be worn. The white porcelain is bright and smooth. There are a few tiny dark spots on the white porcelain in the back as common in older porcelain. Overall, the gold, iron-red and black work is in great condition. There are no chips, cracks, repairs or damage that I can find on the statue. Boy & Dog Statue. Weight: 266.1 grams. Width across: 3 1/8. Weight: 67.4 grams. This is an unusual, beautiful & whimsical antique statue of a boy who loves his dog. It is very sweet and appealing. This Chinese porcelain statue and nice wood stand will make a lovely addition to a collection of Chinese art and antiques. It’s a chine de commande dish but unusual because the central painting is a chinese person f a chinese person with a chinese person holding an artifact with a dragon in gilt. He is also holding a ruyi scepter. 18th century Qing period. Very nicely decorated piece with good details. Red, Gold and Pink enamels. Similar dish displayed in the Guangfu Museum Shanhai, check pictures. Rare type of decoration. Dating to around 1760.
