Max Roesler RMR (Blue Mark) DRESDEN Porcelain Woven Basket w/ Gilt Gold Handle. RMR Woven Basket is in nice condition. Very minor gilt gold loss. Stamped RMR, #1086/3, and Incised Rose Mark. These marks are the. Oldest from the potters work here. Max Roesler was born in 1840 in Regensburg. He studied chemistry in Dresden but finally he graduated in Munich. Max gained experience working for a chemical plant in Blasewitz and in 1864 became a chemist, merchant and technical director at a chemical plant in Elbogen. The change came in 1873 when he became a technical director at the Franz Anton Mehlem stoneware factory in Bonn. In the following year Max Roesler started working for the mosaic tiles factory in Sinzig and months later he bacame a technical and commercial director of the Wächtersbach stoneware factory. In 1890 Roesler moved to the Springer porcelain factories in Elbogen, Bohemia. Finally in 1893 he and his family moved to Rodach near Coburg. Max Roesler founded in Coburg his own earthenware factory in 1894. In 1910, after death of Roesler’s son, the firm was transformed into a public limited company Max Roesler Feinsteingutfabrik AG. Max Roesler died in 1922. In 1938 the company was taken over by Siemens. Max Roesler’s firm used a family coat of arms (a hedge rose) as its emblem. Max Roesler RMR blue rose mark used from 1894.

DESCRIPTION: The beautiful ewer pitcher was hand painted by a talented artist using a purple, blue & green palate on satin ivory. The highlights on the floral sprays are gold paint. The flowers pop out at you. The dragon handle is painted in solid gold and the rims are trimmed in gold. CONDITION: While this ewer is classified as used, the condition is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches, crazing or hairlines. There is a little wear on the gold as is age appropriate; this is only in one spot on the handle which you can easily see in the enlarged photos. DIMENSIONS: The ewer has a diameter of 3 1/2″ and a height of 7 5/8″ at the tip of the spout. HISTORY/MARKS: The company of Lazarus Straus & Sons was founded in 1869 and successfully specialized in the import and resale of glass and ceramics. By 1874, Nathan Straus (son of Lazarus) convinced Macy’s to allow the shop-in-shop chinaware departments in all their stores. So successful was the venture that they formed the U. Based New York & Rudolstadt Pottery Company, Inc. To import from the Rudolstadt Works in Thurginia, Germany. The now famous RW mark was first registered on May 22, 1896 and stands for Rudolstadt Works with slightly different versions being used from 1904 until 1924. This is a stunning hand painted signed Nippon 10 1/4″ tall by 6 1/2″ wide by 2 7/8″ across base by 1 3/4″ across top porcelain vase from a 91 year old dealers estate. It features stunning light pink, dark pink and yellow mum like flowers with heavy gold decoration and beading. The handles have slight wear to gold and also on top rim consistent to its age. Also missing a few of the tiny beads on the beading. I see no cracks, chips or repairs to note. It is beautiful and in nice condition.
