8 Cups and 8 Saucers 8 Desert Plates. Lidded Sugar Bowl and Creamer. Salt and Pepper Shakers. See photos for measurements. Good to very good antiques condition. Not same maker but same region and very similar almost identical color. Colors vary in different hues and intensity due to manufacturing techniques. Krister Porzellan-Manufaktur was established in 1831 by Carl Franz Krister. He worked before for two other factories active in a city of Waldenburg. The first was established in 1820 by C. Rausch and the second opened Traugott Hayn in 1829. Krister’s idea to achieve success was imitating Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur (KPM) in Berlin. That’s why marks of the Waldenburg factory are similar to marks of the factory from Berlin. It was also a reason of quality that let Krister succeed. Already in 1850s the factory was one of leading European porcelain manufacturers. In 1852 and 1867 Krister factory got awards in the International Exposition in Paris. In 1867 Carl Franz Krister died. In 1920 the factory was transformed into a stock company. Only a year later the company became a part of Philip Rosenthal Krister Porzellan Manufaktur AG. In 1945 Krister was overtaken by Polish authorities and nationalized. The company started to operated as Panstwowa Fabryka Porcelany KRISTER and eventually Porcelana Stolowa KRZYSZTOF. In 1953 the factory started to use “WAWEL” brand. Pottery and porcelain production in Tulowice started thanks to the pottery clay discovery. Easy access to clay convinced count Johann Carl Praschma to establish a faience factory. In 1889 the firm was overtaken by Arnold Schlegelmilch. He continued to run it as part of the Reinhold Schlegelmilch enterprise until he died in 1934. The Tillowitz factory exported 80% of its production to the USA. Most of these products were marked as R. The factory operated also during the WWII. Production was stopped in 1945. Polish authorities overtaken this firm in 1946. The factory started production again in 1947 but they made only semi vitreous porcelain. In 1995 Panstwowe Zaklady Porcelitu Stolowego (State Semi Vitreous Porcelain Tableware Factory) was converted into Fabryka Porcelitu Tulowice S. Tulowice Semi Vitreous Porcelain Factory Inc. In 2001 the company went bankrupt.

Vintage Hand Painted Japanese Ceramic Porcelain Lusterware 16 Piece Tea Set. Hand Painted, Golden Gilt, and Rare. This is an amazing 16 piece hand painted Lusterware porcelain tea set made in Japan. We believe this type of ceramic porcelain is called “Lusterware” because of its distinct iridescent or pearlescent look which reflects rainbow colors in certain lighting. We used 5 point lighting (3 spot lights, a flood lamp, and natural sunlight) to capture the iridescent, rainbow colors of the luster porcelain. The Pitcher is approximately 7 1/2″ tall by approximately 9 1/2″ from tip of spout to handle. The Creamer is approximately 4″ tall by approximately 5″ from tip of spout to handle. The Sugar Bowl is approximately 5 1/2″ tall by approximately 6 3/4″ in diameter. The Large Plates (of which there are six) are approximately 7 1/4 in diameter. The Saucers (small plates) (of which there are six) are approximately 5 1/2 in diameter. The cup (of which there one) is approximately 3 1/2 in diameter. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. There are 2 large plates that have similar wear. A 3rd large plate has some similar wear but not nearly as much. The image on the right shows the bottom side of the Cup. The image on the right shows the bottom side of the Pitcher/Teapot. The Pitcher/Teapot and Sugar Bowl have similar iridescent luster. See description above for lighing. Some minor and some noticeable wear. Two of the large plates have a section of the gold gilt design that is considerably worn. It looks like there is normal minor wear of coloring / gilt on the pitcher/teapot handle but this may simply be the intended design look. I can’t be certain.
