This stunning piece is a highly collectible 3-piece English Regency era soup tureen set with its original matching underplate/tray and lid. Produced by the renowned Staffordshire pottery firm Hicks & Meigh circa 1815, this exquisite set features an elaborate blue and white Chinoiserie transferware pattern inspired by traditional Chinese export porcelain styles. Bavaria Zeh, Scherzer & Co. , believed to date to around 1890. This elegant set features a rich dark green ground, rose transfers with hand-painted detailing, and elaborate gold floral stenciling with a thick gilt scalloped rim. Please look at the pictures carefully. This vintage Chinese export tureen with underplate features a beautifully hand-painted European hunting scene on a dark cobalt blue porcelain background. The tureen comes with an underplate, making it a versatile piece that can be used for serving or as a decorative item. The design features a striking dark cobalt blue background with large gold floral scrolls and multiple scenic panels of riding hunters and packs of hunting dogs with beautiful European homes in the background. The primary materials used in the making of this tureen are porcelain and pottery, and it is a vintage original piece. The region of origin is China, and Chinese artisans made it. Coffee pot measures about 9 1/2 high to the top of the knob handle on the cover & holds 4 cups / 32 fluid oz. & is marked on the bottom, PICKARD CHINA MADE IN U. Tray has a rose & daisy design also, & measures about 13 3/4″ handle to handle x 5″ & has the maker’s marks on the back that read, “R&S TILLOWITZ, Selesia, PICKARD ETCHED CHINA”. Creamer & sugar are marked on the bottom, “PICKARD CHINA MADE IN USA, 532″.
