Antique Porcelain China Vase Urn Decanter Two Handles Lid Gilt Gold Trim Moriage

This item was part of my late Dad’s estate. It is a two-handled vase, urn, or decanter (really not sure) with a lid. It is cobalt blue with white and a multitude of colors accented with gilt gold swirled trim and tiny, white moriage along the straight lines on either side of the oval portrait and the oval floral design. The vase/urn/decanter WITHOUT the lid is about 11 3/4 high. WITH the lid it is about 13 3/4 high. The length of the lid is about 3 1/8. The circumference of this item around the thickest part is 15 3/4. The base has a diameter of 2 7/8. The opening to the vase/urn/decanter is 3 7/16″ in diameter and has 4 “petals or ruffles. There is an oval portrait of a woman on one side and an oval floral design on the other. I especially like the aqua blue floral trim around the neck of this piece. The same goes with the unmarked bottom (photo 8). There is a small depression, covered in glaze. The inside edge of the lid has some tiny chips, but they are hard to see (photo 11). I do not know if it is Victorian, French, German, Austrian, or what. My Dad knew much more than I do. Please view all photos as they are part of the description and they do NOT do this piece justice. 12 Antique Lenox China Porcelain Side Plates Gold Raised Embossed Rim J20 J21

Raised gold triangles/arrows and dot borders are a somewhat universal design that work with Victorian to modern decors. A fabulous set to use in combination with other pieces or to complete a set of the same pattern perhaps….. I believe these are side plates, maybe bread. I know these were tremendously expensive new….. Even in their day. I believe these date to the early 1910’s. Appropriately marked with early green Lenox mark, and decorators marks in gilt as shownx5/J. There are also various impressed letter marks on the plates. I saw an “H and M” on two plates just for comparison. I do not see so much as one utensil mark. These are solid and heavy, yet held up to the light they are translucent. Full set of 12 that measure about 5 1/2 diameter each. I only find the pattern as J21….. Which has a center band otherwise is identical to J20. Antique Chinese Red Gold Porcelain Vase. From a collector’s estate in upstate NY. 11 1/2″ (29 cm) tall & 4 1/2″ (11.5 cm) at widest point. Some rubbed gilding, a very tiny 1mm. Size surface chip to side & a few light/ small scratches. No other issues noted. The hole in the bottom appears to have been placed through a mark. There is a hand written number “648” on bottom. THE DEPICTION IS OF NOT ONE BUT TWO DRAGONS PAINTED IN TRADITIONAL STYLE BOTH MEETING IN THE CENTER TO RETRIEVE THE FLAMING PEARL. THE PEAL BEING IN NOT ONLY FLAMING FORM BUT GOLD TRACED IS AMAZING. THE PORCELAIN IS OLDER SLIGHTLY TINTED TO A CLEAR CREAM OR GREYISH TONE THIS IS COMMON FOR OLDER PORCELAIN. MENTIONING THE GOLD YOU SEE MUCH USED BUT ONLY TO OUTLINE THE MOST IMPORTANT DETAILS OF THE VASE. It’s a chine de commande dish but unusual because the central painting of a chinese person with a chinese person holding an artifact with a dragon in gilt. He is also holding a ruyi scepter. Very nicely decorated piece with good details. Red, Gold and Pink enamels. 18th century Qing period. Similar dish displayed in the Guangfu Museum Shanhai, check pictures. Rare type of decoration. Dating to around 1760. / / Overall Condition Restored part. These area was also repainted, we removed close to all new painting, now it is fully original.
