Offered here is an exceptionally beautiful antique Japanese Satsuma porcelain sweetmeat serving set, complete with six shaped outer dishes, one scalloped center bowl, and the original black lacquer presentation tray. This is a complete 7-piece porcelain serving set housed in its fitted lacquer undertray, measuring approximately 13 inches in diameter and approximately 2 inches high. This is a particularly fine and high-quality example, far superior to the more commonly encountered Japanese serving sets of this type. Each porcelain section is beautifully formed and richly decorated with an intricate butterfly and floral motif, including delicate multicolored butterflies, gilt floral clusters, chrysanthemums, and richly ornamented borders with extensive gold gilt decoration. Up for sale is a stunning, highly collectible piece of early 20th-century porcelain art: a genuine antique Haviland France porcelain teapot, dated 1914. This piece represents the height of the amateur and studio china-painting movement of the era. Condition:Exterior: Excellent antique/vintage condition. The gold finish is remarkably pristine with no major rubbing, scratches, or wear typically found on items of this age. It appears to have been strictly used as a cabinet display piece and shows no signs of interior staining or actual use. The entire body is coated in a lustrous black glaze with a dark metallic sheen. The glaze displays a distinctive golden-brown kiln-transmutation effect, where “hare’s-fur” streaks intermingle with oil-spot crystallization patterns. These radiate outward from the center of the bowl in a striking sunburst arrangement. Under the light, the surface combines the fine silky luster of hare’s-fur markings with the mellow, jade-like texture of oil-spot glaze. Along the rim appears a natural reddish-brown patina, a warm and mellow surface quality formed through long years of oxidation and aging. Diameter: 12.9 cm. Height:7.2 cm. Listing for a magnificent and beautiful Royal Vienna Austria Exotic Bird Fine Porcelain Gold encrusted 9.75 inch Dinner Plate in mostly very good condition overall with only one tiny nick chip on the scallop edge as shown in the last picture and otherwise all intact. There is one white oval spot on the bottom orange tail of the bird that is glazed and just not painted in and it is not a chip and it is smooth to the touch like the rest of the plate. The gorgeous plate features a rainbow colored exotic bird amidst a tropical setting. It is retailed by high end retailer Ovington Brothers who was a rival of Tiffany’s.
