Bodley Hand Painted Aesthetic Gold Gilt Seaweed Bone China Shell Plate Circa 1870s Rare bone china shell shaped shellfish / oyster plate. Decorated in the Aesthetic style with raised brown and gold gilt seaweed. The background is painted in pastel pink, blue, and yellow. Has the pattern number 5 1435 on the reverse and an impressed Bodley mark. This mark was used starting in 1870. Has some wear to the gilding, but otherwise good condition with no chips or cracks. Measures approximately 9 3/8 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece.
