Rare pair of 2 gorgeous Chelsea House porcelain Potsdam Bird Decorative Plates with complimentary designs. The birds are left and right facing. These appear to be a combination of transferware and hand painted detail. They are high quality, heavy porcelain with a scalloped edge and gold trim. They were made in China and they are decorative only. They could be also used as chargers. You just cannot eat off of them. Each plate is 12″ in diameter, 1.5″ deep, and very heavy. From my research it is my understanding that these are vintage. I also believe they are code H700 or at least one of them is. I was only able to locate an image of the left facing bird. I assume then that the pair is quite rare. Overall really great condition. Upon close examination you can find a few minor surface scratches on each plate. The left facing bird also has a few scratches on the back perhaps from a prior wall hanger wire. The last three photos show these condition issues. Please see all photos provided.
