Kerr & Binns Worcester Turquoise & Gold Armorial Crest Reticulated Plate 1852-62

Rare reticulated / pierced porcelain bone china dinner plate. Decorated with an armorial crest in black, gold, and red in the center above the motto Spera Semper Spera. The border is decorated in turquoise with small gold beads and raised gold stars. With gold gilding and gold highlights along the edge and to the reticulation. Scalloped gilding along the inner rim. Has an impressed Worcester mark without a crown, which was used by Kerr & Binns between 1852 and 1862. I have not been able to identical the armorial crest. The only mention of this motto I can find anything online is in a story called “The Class Ring” in an 1874 issue of Demorest’s Monthly Magazine, which translates the motto as Hope on, Hope Ever. Has crazing typical of bone china, staining of the type that may soak out, and two small hairlines to the reticulated edge, but otherwise good condition with no additional chips or cracks. Decorated with a pale yellow border with hand painted cottage, church, and a castle or abbey ruin with trees. With gold gilding along the edge and gold gilding and arched/scalloped gilding along the inner rim. Marked on the reverse Worcester in red script and also with the pattern number 229 in red. Probably Grainger, Lee & Co, Worcester. Circa 1814 to 1839. Has some wear consistent with age and use including some wear to the gilding, but otherwise good condition. Listing for a magnificent and spectacular antique all Limoges Raised Gold Encrusted Jeweled 4 piece place setting that is ultra rare and hard to find. The dinner and salad plates are both by Ahrenfeldt Limoges for retailers Bailey Banks and Biddle and Gumps. The cup and saucer are by Guerin Limoges for retailers Burley and Terrel. They are all in excellent condition like new never used. The dinner plate measures 10.25 inches diameter and the salad plate measures 8.25 inches diameter.
