This antique Japanese Nippon vase dates to the first decade of the 20th century, 1900 – 1910. It is a beautiful antique vase standing about 10 1/2″ tall and 7″ largest diameter. The piece features extensive raised moriage work to provide extra details. The glaze underneath depicts subtle pink roses set against a very pale green background. The top has a pair of gilt handles and a round opening. The bottom displays the maple leaf mark that is believed to belong to the Maple Leaf Nippon Group, a mark commonly linked to the Matsumura Brothers. They exported to the West in the early 1900’s. Condition is very good for its age: no chips or cracks, some wear to the gilding consistent with age, especially on the handles. Measurements are: diameter 7″, height 10 1/2″.
