Up for sale are four complete 7-piece place settings (28 pieces) from a vintage Aichi China porcelain dinner service, made in Occupied Japan between 1947 and 1952. Each piece has green ivy garlands with red berries, swags of blue forget-me-nots, and a gold rim. The plates and bowls also have a five-point star wreath of blue flowers in the center. It’s a ready-to-use service for four, so you can set a complete vintage table straight out of the box, or add these settings to a set you already have. ? From My Personal Collection – Family Provenance These place settings come from my personal collection and have stayed in my family since they were new. My great-uncle bought them while he was stationed in Japan with the U. Forces after World War II, as part of a full set of china he sent home to his sister, my paternal grandmother. They have been in the family ever since. ? BACKSTAMP: On the underside, in color: an “A” crest over a gold cartouche reading “Aichi China JAPAN”, flanked by green laurel branches and a gold bow, with “MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN” printed below. The stamp is crisp and fully legible. What’s Included (28 pieces). 4 Dinner plates, about 10. 4 Salad/luncheon plates, about 7¾. 4 Bread & butter plates, about 6½. 4 Rim soup bowls, about 7½. 4 Footed cups, about 2½ tall. 4 Saucers, about 5¾. Maker: Aichi China, Japan. Pattern: Green ivy and red berries, blue forget-me-not garlands, five-point floral star wreath center, gold trim (no pattern name on the backstamp). Matching pieces: Platters, a covered tureen, a gravy boat, a vegetable bowl, a sugar & creamer, and more place settings from this set are available in my other listings. ? Condition – Please Read Carefully. Please look closely at every photo, since they’re part of the description. The photos show one representative place setting; all four settings are in comparable condition. Glaze/surface: Glossy white glaze with clean surfaces. Decoration: The ivy and forget-me-not decoration is crisp and vivid on every piece, with no fading. Gold trim: The gold rims are bright and intact. Undersides: The unglazed foot rings have light toning from age, which is normal for porcelain of this era. These are well-kept place settings in very good condition for their 70+ years. ? About Aichi China. Aichi China comes from Japan’s Aichi Prefecture, around Nagoya and Seto. That region is the historic heart of Japanese porcelain making and home to makers like Noritake. After WWII, Aichi and its neighbors made affordable, elegant porcelain for the American market, much of it in Western-style floral and gold-trimmed patterns. Collectors look for pieces stamped “Made in Occupied Japan” because the mark was only used during the five years of the occupation. ? Care & Use Notes. Not dishwasher or microwave safe, because of the real gold trim. Store plates with felt or paper separators between them to protect the gold and the glaze. Every piece is individually wrapped in bubble wrap, padded on all sides, and double-boxed for safe travel. Want to keep the collection together? Message me with any questions.
