This mark (Caduceus) was registered as a trade mark by Powell & Bishop in 1876 the mark was also used by subsequent partnerships including Powell, Bishop & Stonier. Chinese export vase with gilt foo lion handles. Decorated using famille rose palette. Dates to mid 19th century, during the Qing Dynasty. Famille Rose porcelain is decorated with predominantly pink enamels, first used by adding colloidal gold to the glaze. The style has been used in China since the mid 18th century. Famille rose, which translates from French as pink family, is a type of Chinese porcelain most popular in the 18th and 19th centuries. Known as yangcai in China, for “foreign colors, ” it is characterized by pink overglaze low-fired enamel but may also include other soft complementary colors. Set 7 Minton Creamware Plates Embossed Swag w Gold Dot Rims c. A pretty older Minton pattern with a creamware type body, embossed swag and shell pattern with dainy gold scallop rim border. Measure 9 inches diameter. Most all are marked with the pink Minton globe mark used beginning in 1891 as well as an impressed Mintons mark. A few have a slight gray discoloration but faint. One has a tiny dark spot common in older porcelains. One has a repair on rim and another has a small flaw or nick on rim. No cracks and gold rims are in nice condition.
