Minton K228 Raised Beaded Gold Neoclassical Scrollwork Cobalt 10 5/8 Plate E Fabulous bone china dinner plate. Decorated with a cobalt blue border with Neoclassical gold gilt floral scrollwork designs with raised and beaded highlights. With gold encrusted gilding along the edge of the plate and a matching gold encrusted band below the cobalt band. Has band of ivory below list extending to the inner rim of the plate with gold floral scrollwork designs and raised beaded gold swags at the top of the ivory band. Along the inner rim of the plate is a gold encrusted band. The center of the plate is white. Marked on the bottom Mintons England in puce. This mark is listed as only used between 1891 and 1902. However, the mark also incorporates the retailer importer’s name: Davis Collamore & Co Ltd 7&9 East 52nd Street New York who were not at this address until after 1911. The plate also has an impressed Minton mark with a date code for 1927. Also marked with the pattern number K228 a. Good condition with no chips or cracks. Measures approximately 10 5/8 Inches wide. This is vintage and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece. Marked on the bottom England Coalport AD 1750 with a crown. This mark was used between 1891 and 1920. Also has the pattern number Z1055 in gold. In addition to the attractive color, each plate is adorned with a raised gold design. The gold was only used in the higher valued Royal Doulton sets. THIS IS FOR 4 BOWLS: I have a total of 12 of these very hard to find Aynsley bone china rimmed soup bowls 7 7/8 in the elegant Leighton pattern : a deep cobalt blue rim with an articulate 24kt gold gilding. Condition is Excellent, with no chips, crack, staining or gouging knife marks. Looks like these were seldom used. Cobalt reflects as Black in some photos but it is definitely cobalt in life. Please see all photos. These are translucent: you really can see your hand’s shadow through them. This is a property of good porcelain/bone china. Aynsley was one of the first potteries in England to specialize in Bone China creating a very strong china that is thinner and lighter than others. Queen Victoria recognized their quality by granting a royal warrant which is why they have a royal crown in their logo. In England everyone knows Aynsley is synonymous with high-end quality bone china. Really an exceptional set. Also have other plates and cup and saucers in this pattern. AUSTRIA China Glass Floral Vein/Dresser Tray, Cobalt Blue/Gold Lace. Antique LS & S Lazarus Strauss & Sons Carlsbad Austria Cobalt Blue Dresser Tray Imperial PSL Empire Factory Schlackenwerth, Bohemia, Austria circa 1901 to 1917. On the back of the Dresser Tray are 3 Marks: 1st Makers Mark is for L. Carlsbad Austria which is done in Red (dated 1891 to 1917), 2nd Makers Mark is for PSL Pfeiffer & Lowenstein “Imperial PSL Empire” also known as “Imperial Austria” which is done in Black (dated 1901 to 1940), and the 3rd Mark is actually stamped into the ceramic and is Schlackenwerth which is the Factory of Schlackenwerth, Bohemia, Austria. There is a number as well stamped into the ceramic which is #68 and last but not least is the number 2918 which is in Blue. The Tray measures 14 1/4 inches long and 10 5/8 inches wide. There are no chips, cracks, crazing, or other imperfections or damages. The Dresser Tray is over 110 years old (give or take a year) and does show light wear on some of the gilding (again see pictures). Coalport Hand Painted Pink Rose Cobalt Beaded Gold & White Enamel 9 3/8 Plate. Nice bone china plate. Decorated with large hand painted pink roses in the center. Has a cobalt blue border with raised white enamel and gold beaded floral and scrollwork designs above a band of gold gilding with beading and another band of gold gilt scrollwork. Gold gilding and scalloped gilding along the edge of the plate. Unmarked except for some woman’s ciphers. Circa 1860 to 1880. Has some wear consistent with age including a few small scratches mostly to the leaves, and some wear to the gilding, but otherwise good condition with no chips or cracks. Minton K228 Raised Beaded Gold Neoclassical Scrollwork Cobalt 9 Soup Dish/Low Bowl. Very nice gently used condition. No chips or cracks. I believe this is a soup dish or I have seen them referred to as low bowls. Measures 9 across and will hold approximately 8 ounces of liquid. This listing is for a lot of 2. Decorated with a cobalt blue border with Neoclassical gold gilt floral scrollwork designs with raised and beaded highlights. With gold encrusted gilding along the edge of the plate and a matching gold encrusted band below the cobalt band. Has band of ivory below extending to the inner rim of the bowl with gold floral scrollwork designs and raised beaded gold swags at the top of the ivory band. Along the inner rim of the bowl is a gold encrusted band. The center of the bowl is white. Marked on the bottom Mintons England. This mark is listed as only used between 1891 and 1902. However, the mark also incorporates the retailer importer’s name: Davis Collamore & Co Ltd 7&9 East 52nd Street New York who were not at this address until after 1911. The plate also has an impressed Minton mark with a date code for 1927. Also marked with the pattern number K228. I recently saw a video recreating an Edwardian era dinner and similar bowls/dishes were being used for the main course.
