DIMENSIONS: The bowls have a diameter of 8 1/4″ with a height of 1 5/8″. He was a painter and decorator of porcelain who was also a kaolin deposit owner. Though his original intent was to emulate the designs and benefit from the reputation of the’Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur’ (KPM) in Berlin, the quality of his porcelain was such high quality that he obtained his own clientele of wealthy patrons and won numerous awards at porcelain exhibitions, particularly in Paris. Upon his death in 1867, the pottery went to the Haenschke heirs who further improved the factory to the point that in 1913 it employed 800 workers. The heirs decided to change it into a limited corporation in 1920 and by 1921, it was acquired by the Rosenthal Group who continued the current mark usage until 1927. After WWII, the factory was nationalized and was renamed in 1952 to Porcelana Stolowa Krzysztof. The tradenames Wavel and Wiza were introduced in the mid-1950’s.
