Rare Miniature Chinese Export Rose Medallion Porcelain Mug! Gold Ground
This is a rare, perfectly scaled miniature Chinese Export mug with Rose Medallion design on it. The background is GOLD and was done on early Rose Medallion. Later on, pieces were done just on the white ground. Also, later the artwork suffered greatly. Notice the fine painting on this charming mug. Also, notice the fine gold work done in the hair. That was another thing they stopped doing later. As many of you know, mugs are generally at least six to nine inches tall. I have never seen one this size before. This is NOT A CUP but a MINIATURE MUG. I especially like the perfect scale of it and the twisted handle that was done on many of the full sized mugs. The mug is in perfect condition with no sign of wear. Clearly it has been taken well care of through the years. It measures 3-7/8 inches tall and 2-7/8 inches in diameter. PLEASE NOTE: THE IMAGE SHOWING THE INSIDE OF THE CUP IS A SHADOW AND NOT RESTORATION.

Known as yangcai in China, for “foreign colors, ” it is characterized by pink overglaze low-fired enamel but may also include other soft complementary colors. The color range for this palette was first produced by mixing colored enamels with an opaque white. Measures (without lamp parts) approx: 12″ x 4″ x 4. Small crack at base (see pics).
